The SSE Yearbook published Amish melon for the first time in 1983. Fruits are oval-shaped, 9″ long, and weigh 4–7 pounds. With a thick skin and exceptionally juicy sweet orange flesh, muskmelon taste is fully present. produces quality crops in practically any environment.

Vitamins+: B5, B6, C+++, K+, K+, Mn+
Companion plants: Marigold, Lettuce, Radish, Catnip, Alliums, Corn, Dill, Sunflower, Peas, Oregano, Nasturtium.
Far from: Cucumber, Potato.
Planting tip: Soak in warm water up to 24H & scarify for improved germination. Direct seed 1-2 weeks after last frost. Can also start indoors 4 weeks before the planting date.
Harvesting tip: Harvest when yellow. For peak flavor, harvest fruits when slightly under-ripe, before the rind turns yellow and the fruit softens.
Storage tip: Ripe melon lasts 4 weeks in cold storage.

L’annuaire de la SSE a publié le melon Amish pour la première fois en 1983. Les fruits ont une forme ovale, mesurent 9” de long et pèsent de 4 à 7 livres. Avec une peau épaisse et une chair orange sucrée exceptionnellement juteuse, le goût du melon musqué est pleinement présent. Produit des fruits de qualité dans pratiquement tous les environnements.

Plantes compagnes: Tagète, Laitue, Radis, Cataire, Alliums, Maïs, Aneth, Tournesol, Pois, Origan, Capucine.
Loin de: Concombre, Patate.
Ensemencement: Faire tremper les graines dans de l’eau tiède jusqu’à 24 heures et les scarifier pour une meilleure germination. Semer directement en pleine terre 1 à 2 sem. après les dernières gelées. Il est également possible de démarrer les semis à l’intérieur 4 sem. avant la date de plantation.
