A sweet and highly fragrant Italian melon type that is native to Sicily. Fruit weigh between 2-4 lbs. and are roughly 6-8′′ wide. Beautifully netted, somewhat ridged, and with flesh that is a vibrant orange colour (arancino is Italian for “orange”). This melon is ideal for market farm production due to its size, superb colour, relatively firm texture, and ability to easily determine ripeness.

Companion plants: Marigold, Lettuce, Radish, Catnip, Alliums, Corn, Dill, Sunflower, Peas, Oregano, Nasturtium.

Planting tip: Soak in warm water up to 24H & scarify for improved germination. Direct seed 1-2 weeks after last frost. Can also start indoors 4 weeks before the planting date.
Harvesting tip: Harvest when yellow. For peak flavor, harvest fruits when slightly under-ripe, before the rind turns yellow and the fruit softens.
Storage tip: Ripe melon lasts 4 weeks in cold storage.

Une variété de melon italien sucré et très parfumé originaire de la Sicile. Les fruits pèsent entre 2 et 4 livres et ont une largeur approximative de 6-8′′. Magnifiquement réticulé, quelque peu strié, et dont la chair est d’une couleur orange vibrante (arancino signifie “orange” en italien).
