ID: 62962 | Planting Tip: Chickpeas prefer well-drained, average soil. Avoid nitrogen-rich soil as it promotes foliage over pod production. Water at the base to prevent fungal disease. Harvesting Tip: For dry beans, allow pods to turn brown and dry on the plant. Pull the whole plant and hang upside down in a dry, ventilated area. Seeds are ready when they barely dent when bitten. For green use, harvest pods when still small and green. Storage Tip: Store fully dried beans in airtight containers in a cool, dry place for up to a year. Fresh green pods keep in the refrigerator for up to one week. |
