Introduced in 1929, Red Cored Chantenay produces crunchy, sweet carrots that are excellent for dicing, and juicing or fresh eating. Juice is known to have floral notes. Roots grow to be about 5 1/2″ long and reddish-orange in color with an indistinct core. This variety produces large stump-rooted and thicker carrots that grow to about 5 1/2″ long when mature.
Companion plants: Alliums, Rosemary, Sage, Beans, Lettuce, Peas, Peppers, Tomato. 
Far from: Coriander, Dill, Parsnip.
Planting tip: Direct seed as soon as the soil can be worked. Successive plant from spring until mid-summer.
Harvesting tip: When the carrot reaches the right color and flavor. Last 3 weeks in fields after full maturation in summer and longer in winter.
Storage tip: Store at 0°C at 95% humidity and good air circulation.

Introduite en 1929, la Chantenay ‘Red Cored’ produit des carottes à noyau rouge croquantes et sucrées qui sont excellentes en dés, en jus ou consommées fraîches. Son jus est connu pour ses notes florales. Ses racines mesurent environ 2,5 m de long et sont de couleur rouge-orange avec un cœur indistinct. Cette variété produit de grosses carottes à racines souches plus épaisses qui atteignent environ 5 1/2″ de long à maturité.
Plantes compagnes: Alliums, Romarin, Sauge, Haricots, Laitue, Pois, Poivrons, Tomate.
Loin de: Coriandre, Aneth, Panais.
Ensemencement: Semis direct dès que le sol peut être travaillé. Plantation successive du printemps jusqu’au milieu de l’été.
Récolte: Lorsque la carotte atteint la bonne couleur et la bonne saveur. 3 semaines dans le sol après la pleine maturation en été et plus longtemps en hiver.
Entreposage: Conservez à 0°C à 95% d’humidité et une bonne circulation d’air.
