A little buttercup variety known as Gold Nugget won the All-America prize in 1966. It was initially developed as a sweet potato replacement for regions with brief growing seasons. 1-2 pounds of fruit are present. It has a flattened oval shape, and its flesh and skin are a light orange colour. Little shrub. Good keeps. Up to 10 fruits can be found in each cluster of fruits at the plant’s base.

Companion plants: Corn, Pole Beans, Peas, Radish, Sunflower, Parsley, Celery, Buckwheat, Nastertium, Marigold, Oregano.

Planting tip: Soak in warm water up to 24H & scarify to improve germination. Can start indoors 3-4 weeks before last frost.||Move outside in late May, early June, when soil reaches 25°C.
Harvesting tip: Mature fruit has a rich color & rinds are hard to dent with a fingernail. The ground spot gets riper in color too (yellow to cream, gold to orange). Cut 2” stem to avoid rot from the stem. Must cure in dry and warm place.
Storage tip: Store at 10-12°C w/ 55-75% humidity & good air flow.

Une petite variété de courge connue sous le nom de Gold Nugget qui a remporté le prix All-America en 1966. Elle a été initialement développée pour remplacer la patate douce dans les régions où la saison de croissance est courte. Le fruit pèse entre 1 et 2 livres. Il a une forme ovale aplatie, et sa chair et sa peau sont de couleur orange clair. Port buissonant. Se conserve bien. On peut trouver jusqu’à 10 fruits dans chaque grappe à la base de la plante.

Récolte: Les fruits mûrs ont une couleur riche, une écorce difficile à creuser avec l’ongle. La couleur de la tache au sol devient plus mûre aussi (jaune à crème, or à orange). Couper à 2″ de tige pour éviter la pourriture par la tige. Mûrir dans un endroit sec et chaud.
Entreposage: Stocker à 10-12°C, 55-75% d’humidité et une bonne circulation d’air.
