ID: 62207 | Planting Tip: Sow seeds five to six weeks before transplanting outside. Soak seeds for 24H before planting in hot water. Scarify the seeds to expedite germination. Harvesting Tip: Harvest tender young luffa for stir-fries, stews & curries when ~7″ long. For sponges, let them mature on the vine. Harvest when skin’s turned from green to yellow/brown & the gourd feels light when lifted in your hand. Storage Tip: Leave on the vine until the skin turns brown and dry. Soak dried gourds in water, peel skin, and shake out seeds. Dry thoroughly before storage. |
