A truly scrumptious and unique member of the eggplant family, it tastes like a combination of eggplant, tomatoes and peppers. It is traditionally made into gourmet caponata or preserved and pickled. This red round fruit is popular in the Italian province of Potenza. The bright orange, round fruit was originally brought to Rotonda, Italy from Ethiopia just before World War II and can often be found in jars of olive oil and spread on crusty Italian bread. Jere Gettle found seeds for this delicacy while traveling in Italy in 2009.

Un membre vraiment succulent et unique de la famille des aubergines, son fruit a le goût d’une combinaison d’aubergines, de tomates et de poivrons. Elle est traditionnellement transformée en caponata gourmet ou conservée et marinée. Ce fruit rouge-orange rond est populaire dans la province italienne de Potenza. A été apporté à l’origine d’Éthiopie à Rotonda, en Italie, juste avant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. On la retrouve marinée dans de l’huile d’olive et tartinée sur du pain italien croustillant. Jere Gettle a trouvé les semences de ce délice lors d’un voyage en Italie en 2009.

Récolte: Récolter les aubergines lorsque la peau est lustrée et que l’empreinte du pouce ne laisse pas de trace.
