Low-growing rosettes of felt-like leaves during first year with deep tap root. Flower stalk grows 5-10′ tall the 2nd year. Numerous beetles have been found to feed only on this plant, making them potential biological control agents. Has been used topically for a range of skin issues as well as a herbal medicine for coughs, asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, and diarrhoea. Blooms can also be used to produce yellow, green, or brown colours. Companions: Yarrow, Coneflower, English Lavender, Shasta Daisy, Catmint, Rose, Sage, Russian Sage, Apple Tree, Carrot.
