La physalis péruvienne (Physalis peruviana), également connue sous le nom de groseille du Cap ou de Goldenberry, est une plante annuelle de saison chaude qui produit de petits fruits orange acidulés et sucrés, enveloppés dans des enveloppes papyracées. La plante atteint une hauteur de 3 à 4 pieds et prospère en plein soleil dans un sol bien drainé, résistant bien à la chaleur estivale. Les cerises de terre demandent relativement peu d’entretien, un arrosage régulier et un soutien pour éviter qu’elles ne s’étendent. Les fruits sont polyvalents, idéaux pour la consommation fraîche, les confitures ou les desserts. Récolter lorsque les enveloppes deviennent brunes et que les fruits tombent au sol.
