ID: 24555 | Planting Tip: Transplant as soon as soil can be worked in spring or transplant after the summer heat has passed, mid-August in our region. Tastes bitter in a warmer growing °T but taste gets better in cooler °T. Be warned that it needs cold °T to change colours. Harvesting Tip: Cut young, tender leaves for fresh greens for consuming right away. Flavour diminishes when stored or dried. Roots can be harvested after four months of growth. Storage Tip: Store unwashed heads in a plastic bag in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 weeks. Wrapped heads maintain crispness and slightly reduce bitterness over time. |
