Sweet Freckles Melon is a singular and wonderful fruit with a smooth, rich texture and a sweet, aromatic flavour. Pear-shaped, freckled appearance that is unusual and appealing. The extremely robust vines turn from green to orange when ripe, even when the stem does not slip. A more resilient early Crenshaw variety with a little smaller size. Similar to, but distinct from, Eel River or Crane melon.
Companion plants: Marigold, Lettuce, Radish, Catnip, Alliums, Corn, Dill, Sunflower, Peas, Oregano, Nasturtium. 
Far from: Cucumber, Potato.
Planting tip: Soak in warm water up to 24H & scarify for improved germination. Direct seed 1-2 weeks after last frost. Can also start indoors 4 weeks before the planting date.
Harvesting tip: Harvest when yellow. For peak flavor, harvest fruits when slightly under-ripe, before the rind turns yellow and the fruit softens.
Storage tip: Ripe melon lasts 4 weeks in cold storage.

Le melon ‘Sweet Freckles’ est un fruit singulier et merveilleux à la texture riche et lisse et à la saveur sucrée et aromatique. Sa forme de poire et ses taches de rousseur lui confèrent une allure inhabituelle et attrayante. Ses vignes extrêmement robustes passent du vert à l’orange à maturité, même si la tige ne glisse pas. Une variété précoce de Crenshaw plus résistante, avec une taille un peu plus petite. Semblable à, mais distinct des melons Eel River ou Crane.
Plantes compagnes: Tagète, laitue, radis, cataire, alliums, maïs, aneth, tournesol, pois, origan, capucine.
Loin de: Concombre, Patate.
Ensemencement: Tremper en eau chaude jusqu’à 24H et scarifier pour mieux germer. Semer directement 1 à 2 sem. après le dernier gel. On peut aussi démarrer à l’intérieur 4 sem. avant la date de plantation.
Récolte: Récolter quand il est jaune
Entreposage: Le melon mûr se conserve 4 semaines au froid.
