An excellent performer for fall and early winter production with uniform, large, dense heads. Protective outer leaves improve quality. Hold well in storage with an average weight of 14 oz.

Far from: Endive, Escarole.
Planting tip: Start indoors 2 weeks before planting outside.||Transplant as soon as soil can be worked in spring or transplant after the summer heat has passed, mid-August in our region. Tastes bitter in a warmer growing °T but taste gets better in cooler °T. Be warned that it needs cold °T to change colours.
Harvesting tip: Cut young, tender leaves for fresh greens for consuming right away. Flavour diminishes when stored or dried. Roots can be harvested after four months of growth.

Une excellente performance pour la production d’automne et de début d’hiver avec des têtes uniformes, grandes et denses. Les feuilles extérieures protectrices améliorent la qualité. Se conserve bien en entrepôt avec un poids moyen de 14 oz.

Loin de: Endive, Scarole.
Ensemencement: Commencez les semis à l’intérieur deux sem. avant la plantation en extérieur. Repiquez dès que le sol est praticable au printemps ou après les fortes chaleurs estivales, soit vers la mi-août dans notre région. Son goût est amer pendant sa période de croissance, mais s’améliore par temps froid. Attention : le froid est indispensable à son changement de couleur.
Récolte: Coupez les jeunes feuilles tendres pour obtenir des légumes verts frais à consommer immédiatement. La saveur diminue lorsqu’elles sont stockées ou séchées. Les racines peuvent être récoltées après quatre mois de croissance.
Entreposage: Conservez les têtes non lavées dans un sac en plastique au réfrigérateur pendant 2 à 3 semaines maximum. Les têtes emballées conservent leur croquant et leur amertume s’atténue légèrement avec le temps.
