William Woys Weaver introduced us to this pepper from his grandfather’s collection. His grandfather received the pepper from African-American folk artist Horace Pippin in 1944. A chameleon-like pepper that undergoes color changes during ripening; violet to pinkish-flesh color, then orange changing to brown, and eventually to a deep red. These peppers also undergo a unique flavor change as they ripen. Very rare and extremely productive. Fruit size 6-7” in length. Reds being more sweet and meatier than the violet.

Companion plants: Alliums, Basil, Tomato, Spinach, Oregano, Marjoram, Nasturtium, Marigold. 
Far from: Beans, Brassicas, Fennel.
Planting tip: Sow indoors 6-8 weeks before planting.||For best results harden off at 18-19°C
Harvesting tip: Ready to harvest as soon as they’ve achieved their final colour. Harvest first fruit promptly to stimulate production.

William Woys Weaver nous a présenté ce piment provenant de la collection de son grand-père. Son grand-père a reçu le piment de l’artiste folklorique afro-américain Horace Pippin en 1944. C’est un poivre caméléon qui change de couleur au cours de la maturation : de la violette à la couleur rose de la chair, puis de l’orange au brun, et enfin au rouge profond. Ces poivrons subissent également un changement de saveur unique au cours de leur maturation. Très rare et extrêmement productif. La taille des fruits est de 6 à 7 pouces de long. Les rouges sont plus sucrés et plus charnus que les violets.
