High yielding kidney type bean from the North. White beans have red markings that resemble a soldier, hence the name! A historic New England bean that is popular in heritage soup bean & baking bean! Tender and meaty beans are drought tolerant. Soldier beans, also called red-eye beans, where Americans have been growing them since the 1800s.Our dear friend Richard Beaudette shared these with us.

Companion plants: Corn, Carrot, Cabbage, Cucumber, Pea, Radish, Potato, Squash, Nasturtium, Rosemary. 
Far from: Alliums, Beet.
Planting tip: Direct seed after last frost. To continuously harvest, plant in 3-week intervals.
Harvesting tip: Wait until pods and enclosed seeds have reached full maturity. For dry beans, allow plenty of space for airflow so they can dry later in the season.
Storage tip: It’s best to only freeze dry beans.

Une lĂ©gumineuse historique de la Nouvelle-Angleterre qui est populaire dans les soupes aux haricots et les plats cuits aux haricots! Ces haricots tendres et charnus sont tolĂ©rants Ă  la sĂ©cheresse. Cette variĂ©tĂ©, Ă©galement appelĂ©e haricot ‘red-eye’, est cultivĂ©e par les AmĂ©ricains depuis les annĂ©es 1800.
