Sweet Granite Cantaloupes, designed for northern climates, are among the earliest maturing eastern-type melons. With sweet, orange flesh, these oblong fruits weigh approximately three pounds. Ripe when the skin color begins to “warm,” and the fruit slips easily from the vine. An ideal choice for gardens with short summers or cool weather.
Companion plants: Marigold, Lettuce, Radish, Catnip, Alliums, Corn, Dill, Sunflower, Peas, Oregano, Nasturtium. 
Far from: Cucumber, Potato.
Planting tip: Soak in warm water up to 24H & scarify for improved germination. Direct seed 1-2 weeks after last frost. Can also start indoors 4 weeks before the planting date.
Harvesting tip: Harvest when yellow. For peak flavor, harvest fruits when slightly under-ripe, before the rind turns yellow and the fruit softens.
Storage tip: Ripe melon lasts 4 weeks in cold storage.

Les cantaloups Sweet Granite, conçus pour les climats nordiques, sont parmi les melons de type oriental qui mûrissent le plus tôt. Ces fruits oblongs à la chair orange et sucrée pèsent environ 3lbs. Ils sont mûrs lorsque la couleur de la peau commence à se réchauffer et que le fruit se détache facilement de la vigne. Un choix idéal pour les jardins où les étés sont courts ou le temps frais.
Plantes compagnes: Tagète, laitue, radis, cataire, alliums, maïs, aneth, tournesol, pois, origan, capucine.
Loin de: Concombre, Patate.
Ensemencement: Tremper en eau chaude jusqu’à 24H et scarifier pour mieux germer. Semer directement 1 à 2 sem. après le dernier gel. On peut aussi démarrer à l’intérieur 4 sem. avant la date de plantation.
Récolte: Récolter quand il est jaune
Entreposage: Le melon mûr se conserve 4 semaines au froid.
